What You’ll Be Doing
  • Recruiting & Onboarding: Partner with hiring managers to scope, post, and promote roles across multiple channels. Own the end-to-end hiring process, sourcing, screening, coordinating interviews, and ensuring an exceptional candidate experience. Maintain and optimize our applicant tracking system (ATS), draft offer letters, coordinate background checks, and handle employment documentation. Design and deliver a consistent, brand-aligned onboarding experience, managing new hire paperwork, scheduling orientation, and providing ongoing support.
  • Employee Lifecycle Management: Oversee the entire employee journey, from talent acquisition to offboarding, including employee relations, progressive discipline, and terminations. Ensure seamless processes that enhance the in-person, hybrid, and remote experience for our distributed team.
  • People Operations: Serve as the go-to person for day-to-day and operational people functions, building and scaling the People Operations function. Implement and optimize HRIS and payroll systems, with hands-on payroll processing experience including payroll set-up. Ensure health and safety compliance across locations, and drive process and system improvements.
  • Training & Development: Develop and deliver training programs to support employee growth and align with company goals.
  • Performance Management: Design and implement performance management systems to drive accountability and growth.
  • Compensation & Rewards: Contribute to the development of competitive compensation and rewards strategies.
  • Team Engagement: Plan and execute team events to foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.
  • Immigration & Compliance: Manage immigration processes and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Technology & Automation: Leverage technology to streamline people operations and enhance efficiency.
 
What We’re Looking For
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. HR certification (e.g., CHRP) is a strong asset.
Experience:
  • 6+ years in human resources, with at least 3 years in a Generalist or Business Partner role.
  • Proven experience in full-cycle recruiting and talent acquisition in a fast-paced, startup environment.
  • Experience working with a distributed workforce across Canada, with a focus on in-person, hybrid, and remote employee experiences.
  • Demonstrated success in building and scaling people operations functions, including HRIS, payroll, and compliance processes.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • High agency, emotional intelligence, and the ability to build trust with diverse teams.
  • Analytical skills to identify trends and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity, pivot quickly, and stay focused on priorities under pressure.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and managing competing priorities with strong judgment.
  • Deep understanding of HR disciplines, including employee relations, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding.
  • Skilled in HRIS and payroll systems, with hands-on experience in payroll processing and process automation.
  • Knowledgeable in immigration procedures and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and HR-related software (e.g., ATS, HRIS platforms).
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and fairness, with sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Highly collaborative, self-motivated, and able to work autonomously or as part of a team.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in the fintech or financial services industry.
  • Multilingual skills or experience in international HR contexts.
